An End To "Tuesday Trivia"

Last week's answer: a pharmacy, pronounced "apteka."

We could probably find enough things to post for trivia pictures every week to last through the year. After only nine weeks of trivia, we're sure you've gotten just a small taste of what it is like for us to live and function in a different culture. To test your memory, here's a recap of the trivia pictures. Review is an important part of language learning. If we don't use it, we often forget it. Without looking at the captions, how many of the trivia items can you remember? (Don't worry, we're not asking for you to give us your score!). :)
The Post Office
"Kyiv Welcomes You"
"We Believe"
Euro 2012: "Creating History Together"
At an outdoor museum: "No Littering" sign
Tender, canned ham--it's SPAM!
Mayonnaise, pronounced "my-oh-naze" in Ukrainian.
100% ice cream!
Cheese and bacon flavored potato chips
Our first trivia photo...sour cream!

So, did you remember all of them? We hope this series of trivia blogs has helped you understand a little of what we must go through every day to learn the Ukrainian language. We're learning much more than a language, too. We're learning a new way of thinking and a new culture. Every time we encounter something new and unknown, we're reminded of the importance of learning the language. We've got a long road ahead of us before we are able to share the gospel with Ukrainians. As you remember these trivia photos of simple food items and places in the city, please remember to pray for our language learning, cultural adjustments, and ability to witness to those around us.
